CABIDA brings together companies from the region in Burgos to boost their participation in the carbon market

CABIDA presented its services to companies in Castile and León at the "Online Carbon Offset Auctions for Companies" Technology Breakfast, held on September 29th at the Science and Technology Station in Burgos. The event aimed to introduce CABIDA's digital proposal to the region's business community, enabling them to enhance their participation in carbon markets.

The meeting began with a welcome address from Virginia Santamaría, the Burgos regional director of ICECYL, who presented the Centr@Tec4 program's initiatives for businesses in the region. Following this, Marta Sanz Buezo introduced the session, leading into a presentation by Pablo Sabín, director of Cesefor, who discussed the role of carbon offset auctions as a driver for corporate decarbonization.

The central part of the day's session was led by Julia Bueso, head of CABIDA at Cesefor, who presented the platform as the first online carbon offset auction tool developed to facilitate the participation of companies in Castile and León in this market. Bueso demonstrated the practical operation of CABIDA, guiding the participating companies from the initial assessment to their effective participation in an auction, and explained how the platform opens new avenues for:

  • – Access to sustainable financing opportunities.
  • – Contribute to decarbonization projects.
  • – Make progress in meeting the demands of the carbon market.
  • – Incorporating digitalization into sustainability management.

As this was the first auction held on the platform, a series of improvements (implemented thanks to user feedback) led to a temporary suspension of access. For this reason, the auction period was extended by ten days (until October 9th) to allow registration and bidding to proceed with all the operational improvements in place. This decision reinforces CABIDA's commitment to the robustness and reliability of the forest carbon market it is promoting.

The event was part of the Centr@Tec4 program, promoted by the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castile and León (ICECYL) in partnership with the region's Technology Centers, with the aim of fostering innovation, digitalization, sustainability, and technology transfer in companies in Castile and León. The Burgos City Council also collaborated on the event.

The meeting concluded with a networking reception, where attendees could ask questions of the CABIDA team and explore potential avenues for collaboration.

At CABIDA, we thank everyone who participated in this event and who contribute to continuing to build solutions that connect business, technology, and sustainability.
