CABIDA, the forest carbon credit auction platform promoted by the Cesefor Foundation, holds its first public event in Burgos on September 29. CABIDA, the digital platform promoted by the Cesefor Foundation, will open its first auction process on September 23 and hold its closing event on Tuesday, September 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Science and Technology Station (Dr. José Luis Santamaría Street, Burgos), where the number of credits awarded will be announced live. How the platform works: CABIDA was created to connect certified forestry projects (reforestation, improved forest management, or conservation) with companies and institutions seeking to offset their emissions, thus boosting a market where most of the credits generated in Spain are not yet traded. Registering as a forestry project promoter involves several steps: registering as a credit seller on the platform, providing the organization's information, signing an agreement with the CABIDA management team, reviewing and validating the application, and, once validated, registering the projects and certified credits for inclusion in the auction. From there, the credits are grouped into lots (defined by volume, standard, location, and conditions) with a reference starting price, and are subject to a competitive bidding process in which the buyers themselves determine the final price. At the close of the auction, a legally binding digital contract is formalized, and the status of the credits is updated in the platform's registry, preventing double counting. CABIDA incorporates traceability systems and legally binding digital contracts and is compatible with standards such as the National Carbon Footprint Registry of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), Verra, and Gold Standard. The event on September 29th in Burgos: The closing of CABIDA's first auction will take place on Tuesday, September 29th, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Science and Technology Station (Dr. José Luis Santamaría Street, Burgos). The event will include the live closing of the auction and the announcement of the number of loans awarded. Participation in this event is free, but prior registration is required using this form. The event is also made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Burgos City Council. Castile and León, a significant player in the market: CABIDA's Product Director, Julia Bueso, highlighted that a large portion of the absorption projects developed so far in Spain are located in Castile and León, a region that, in her opinion, will represent a significant percentage of transactions nationwide. In this regard, Bueso emphasizes that "Castile and León is one of the autonomous communities with the most forestry activity and the most economic activity derived from forestry." Another aspect highlighted by CABIDA's product director is that one of the platform's objectives is "to open the market to smaller initiatives, which until now have found it more difficult to sell their credits." According to Bueso herself, the intention is for any certified forestry project, large or small, to have a direct and transparent channel to sell its carbon credits.
